Founding Line
The chapter that revolutionized the Kappa Psi Kappa Fraternity Incorporated, Delta , started on August 31st, 2002 and crossed on October 24th, 2002 11:30:34pm. These brothers were bound for K-Psi greatness, as for they were part of Kappa Psi Kappa history well before their first line had crossed.
Believing the captivating ideals of Kappa Psi Kappa, Brother Wilson, under the tutelage Founder D. Sean Benjamin, led the way of starting a local chapter in Chicago Illinois of the Tallahassee Florida based organization. Joined by his best friend, Brother Mercer, these two men started the founding Delta line and the first line in the Midwest Region.
Charter Line
Continuing to break boundaries within life and within Kappa Psi Kappa, the Delta Chapter proved themselves worth of the New Black, Royal Blue, Baby Blue and Platinum White (now Baby Blue & Gold) and were the FIRST fully established chapter in Kappa Psi Kappa (second to the Alpha Chapter) after the induction of Brother Walker, Brother Young and Brother Morris.
Chapter Outreach
Besides their numerous contributions to the fraternity this chapter still upholds the scared values of service, building community, leadership development and continues to grow to better the future. Listed below are just some of the organizations that the Delta Chapter works with to help uplift the community and strive for it goals of service.
Rocks Coordinating Committee – The planning group behind Montrose Rocks, formed in 1996 to begin an annual celebration of pride for Chicago’s Black gay and lesbian community.
Windy City Black Pride – Created for and by African-American LGBT Men and Women in the Chicago, who provide programming to the African-American LGBT community around the Chicago-land area.
Salvation Army: Harbor Light of Chicago – One of largest residential recovery programs in Chicago, we offer an array of services to the community through our spiritual, transitional jobs, and homeless outreach programs.
AIDS Run/Walk Chicago – Since its establishment in 2001, AIDS Run and Walk Chicago has raised more than $2 million net to fight HIV/AIDS to continue as a local and national leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Vital Bridges – Helping people throughout Metropolitan Chicago impacted by HIV and AIDS to improve their health and build self-sufficiency by providing food, nutrition, housing, case management and prevention services.
